Ballet
ages 7 though adult
Whether your dream has always been to be a ballerina, or you are just interested in ballet for it's countless benefits, ballet class is an excellent place to start your dance training. There are so many forms of dance that ballet lays a foundation for--jazz, tap, ballroom, plus tons of folk dancing, even some hip hop!--if you start learning ballet first, the rest will magically fall into place for you. If you have watched any dance contestant shows, you should know that the judges always, always suggest ballet training for any dancer that wishes to improve. Ballet provides a basic understanding of dance principles and instills the proper execution of dance techniques. Ballet will also develop the line and form (the two and three dimensional images created by the dancer’s body), muscle strength, joint flexibility, balance and co-ordination; all of which is vital for a “good”, strong dancer.
Our ballet classes are based on the Canadian Dance Teacher's Association syllabus, and students are placed in class by ability. Students need to show a good and constant grasp of the concepts, technique and steps at their level before they are allowed to move up to the next level. Each student is an individual, and it is important to keep in mind there is a vast amount of factors that can affect a student's progression.
